Hurricane season is upon us from June-November. While you can take every precaution to prepare for a coming hurricane to reduce property damage, the aftermath of a hurricane still demands major cleanup and restoration. As flood-damaged homes and buildings need to recover, it requires you to act quickly to beat mold after a flood.
Tips to Prevent Post-Flooding Mold:
- Prevent mold growth by drying out buildings and their contents.
- Prevent illness by disinfecting everything that became wet.
- Protect yourself from hazardous materials by wearing protective equipment like proper clothing and protective gloves.

Hurricane Irma |
Hurricane Irma caused widespread damage across much of the Florida Peninsula. The storm tore through Miami, the Florida Keys and southern tip of the state before turning into a tropical storm and making its way into Georgia. Metro Atlanta braced for life-threatening hurricane bands, cold rains, and strong winds after being issued its first-ever tropical storm warning. Gov. Nathan Deal declared a state of emergency in all 159 Georgia counties due to the tropical storm. Irma's enormous reach spread so large that even over 200 miles away, it spawned tornadoes, downed power lines, and caused major destruction in Charleston and coastal South Carolina. The Florida Peninsula was reported to have the heaviest US rainfall projected totals, which caused flash flooding and river flooding. Other areas impacted by Tropical Storm Irma could also experience major flooding. |
